Low Loaders and Side Loaders Arrive at Transmode
Transmode has just taken delivery of ten new trailers, expanding our transportation fleet and allowing us to offer a more flexible service to our valued customers. Our new trailers include both low loaders and side loaders, which means we are always in a position to deploy the type of trailer that best suits our clients’ individual needs. These add to our increasing range of specialist haulage equipment we can bring to bear.
What is a low loader? Why is it used?
As the name suggests, low loader are trailers with a deck that is set very low to the ground, primarily to allow for easy loading and unloading. This type of trailer is often – but not exclusively – used for the transport of large and heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes or industrial equipment. Low loaders also help to reduce the vehicle’s overall height including cargo, which might be necessary on routes with height restrictions.
What is a side loader and why is it used?
Side loaders offer the distinct advantage of in-built cranes to allow cargo containers to be loaded and unloaded from the trailer on-site without the need to bring in any other handling equipment. Side loader trailers allow containers to be handled quickly and efficiently – and inexpensively – at both ends of the journey, and allow for a great deal of flexibility compared to other trailer types.
